Our Adelaide Masters held over the Easter weekend was an outstanding success, attracting 104 entries and we have received much national praise for our efforts and we encourage any of our members to watch the excellent streaming of the finals from our Facebook page.
The success is due to no small effort by the multitude of volunteers both within and outside of our club, and our Tournament Director Steve Hicks will be providing a full report in next week’s newsletter.
We again congratulate the winner, Gary Kelly (Warilla B.C. NSW) in a nail-biting win over Mitch Sidebottom (Tallygaroopna B.C. VIC) winning 25/23.
2025 Adelaide Master Singles Championships What a fantastic Masters tournament yet again! Now in its 61st year, this prestigious event continues to grow in reputation and excitement. This year, we welcomed 108 competitors from all across Australia—and even a few from overseas—drawn into 27 sections over three action-packed days. A huge thank you to the army of Umpires, Officials, and Markers who generously volunteer their time. Your dedication is invaluable—this event simply wouldn’t be possible without you. A special shout-out to Scott Thulborn, the Adelaide Greenkeeper, whose incredible efforts produced what many believe to be the best greens in Australia. Scott, you're an absolute star! Spectators were treated to high-quality bowling across all sections. When the dust settled, all section winners and the next best five players progressed to the knockout stages. Unfortunately, rain—yes, rain!—cut play short after just two knockout rounds. But come Monday, the skies cleared and the Round of 8 resumed in ideal conditions. With top-level talent everywhere, spectators had a tough choice of which game to watch—exceptional bowling was on display on every rink. In the end, young gun Corey Hicks emerged victorious, crowned the 2025 Master Champion after a hard-fought battle with Brett Spurr. Something tells us this won’t be your last Masters crown, Corey! 🎥 Catch up on the action via livestream replays on the Spacequake Sports YouTube Channel. 👇 Scroll down for full results of the Sectionals, Knockouts, and Finals.
